The Mathematics Department is undergoing major changes. In 2007 the school was selected as one of forty-six schools from around the country to be a partner in the Public Schools Mathematics Challenge.
This is an initiative of the Optima and Epoch Trusts that were founded by Anglo American to address the Mathematics crisis in the country. They provided partner schools with a substantial monetary injection to assist them to bring about a significant improvement in performance and participation in this all-important subject.
These funds have been employed for an additional Mathematics teacher, upgraded Mathematics teaching venues which include and two incentive bursaries for Selbornians who make significant strides in the subject.
