We are privileged to have three newly-revamped computer laboratories at Selborne. Boys have access to a Maths lab, an Information Technology lab and a Geography lab. All of the venues also double as classrooms, so boys in those rooms have access to the computers during lessons, and the teacher can take advantage of the computers by preparing computer-based activities. The labs are all equipped with data-projectors for the teacher’s use.
The Engineering, Graphics and Design department also have their own lab which is used solely for this learning area, while the other three labs are available to other learning areas.
The information technology lab is open for the boys after school and during break times for research and work preparation.
The staff have their own computer room where they can prepare work and read their email. The Biology lab has an internet-connected PC and data projector for the teacher to use during lessons.
The Science department has a computer with special software on it that runs a variety of measuring devices. For example, the ultrasound unit. The boys can experiment with the physics notions of speed, motion and acceleration. A variety of chemical and electrical sensors provide computer data which can then be analysed.
Every learner and teacher has his own login and email address. The boys can also access their emails and work on computers from the library and at the hostel. This allows us to fully exploit our computer technology in the interests of education.
